Annual Meeting

1:00 - 3:00 PM

The Unity Southwest Region will have it’s annual membership meeting on July 17, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM and scheduled to conclude no later than 3:00 PM.

Items for consideration at this year’s meeting are electing board positions and a change to the recently adopted bylaws. Please review the information below in preparation for this year’s meeting!

  • Rev. Richard Maraj

    BOARD NOMINEE

    Rev. Richard Maraj inspires people to live better lives through his powerful spiritual teachings. His charismatic, relatable speaking style combines a depth of spiritual knowledge, sharp intellect, great sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm to touch and energize his audience into expanding their understanding of God, life and themselves. Richard’s positive, uplifting messages have helped many people experience greater joy, peace and prosperity through the practical application of basic spiritual principles.

    For many years Richard worked as a successful motivational speaker who traveled throughout North America to address large Fortune 500 and other companies. During the early 1990s, he felt a strong call to ministry and was compelled to attend ministerial school.

    He was ordained as a Unity minister in 1998, and began his ministry as an Associate Minister in Raleigh, NC. Soon afterward he became Senior Minister of Christ Church Unity in Kansas City, MO, and quickly became a much sought-after guest speaker for churches throughout Canada and the United States. He is currently the Senior Minister of Unity of Phoenix, one of the largest Unity ministries in the world, where he has served since 2005.

    Richard has a degree in political science from McMaster University and continues to have a passion for learning. He is a strong advocate for community service, and also enjoys a variety of activities and hobbies, which include performing as a stand-up comic. In addition, Richard is currently completing a book called “The 4 Most Important Questions You Can Ask Yourself.

  • Rev. Robert Bright

    BOARD NOMINEE
    (Incumbent)

    Pastor Robert Bright has been an earnest Truth Student for over 30 years beginning in Honolulu, where he served a variety of roles during his 23 years there; board member, chaplain, bookstore manager, weddings & celebrations director – having officiated over 6000 weddings.  Always casting his circle of relationship and experience wider – he studied with Matthew Fox earning his Masters in Creation Spirituality from Naropa University.  

    Robert served as a full-time chaplain and bereavement coordinator for Bristol Hospice in Honolulu.  He attended the Unity Urban Ministerial School and was ordained in 2019.  He served as Spiritual Leader of Unity Church of El Cajon from 2017-2025.  Currently he is birthing a new ministry, Unity Truth for Today, that offer digital and e-community outreach.

    He shares life with his husband celebrating 25 anniversaries together and with his small dog, who rules their world.  Hobbies include quilting, intaglio printmaking and sudoku. 

  • Bylaws Amendment Proposal

    Following the approval of the current bylaws at a meeting of the region held on May 8, a proposal was submitted for consideration by the regional membership. The consideration of this language has been approved by the board and will be part of the meeting agenda. Our bylaws require any proposed change be made available for review, at minimum, no later than 14 days in advance of the meeting where they are to be considered. An affirmative vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members present and voting shall be necessary to adopt any amendment to or general revision of these bylaws.
